Kim is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She has worked in the therapy field since 1998 in a a variety of settings, which include government and non-government settings.
If you’re dealing with addiction, grief, loss, or trauma in the past or present, you may feel that you are in an endless loop of emotions and reactions from which there is no escape. Therapy with an experienced counsellor can help you find new approaches or solutions to problems which have made you feel like you are running in place.
Kim provides confidential counselling services to children, adolescents, adults and families. She has training in various areas of psychotherapy that include trauma, EMDR, play therapy, and attachment.
The first step is to arrange an initial meeting to discuss and assess what your needs may be. At your first appointment, Kim will help you assess your needs, discuss your goals, and create a personal path forward.
Therapy can be beneficial in a variety of ways. Clients will receive emotional support, learn to understand feelings and problems, and will be encouraged to try new solutions to old problems. While therapy may provide significant benefits, it may also pose risks. It may elicit uncomfortable thoughts, feelings or memories. The success of our work will depend on the quality of the effort on both our parts and the realization that you are responsible for lifestyle choices and changes that may result from therapy.
The length of counselling varies from person to person and the presenting issues. Kim provides individual and family counselling services for issues that include depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, grief and loss, Trichotillamania, and OCD.
As you continue your confidential counselling sessions, Kim will give you the support and encouragement you need to examine and understand your behaviours, feelings, relationships, or problems. With growing understanding, you can become more confident in making new choices that help you create positive changes in your life.
